Website Design and Development

Website Development and Design

Web Development

We have years of experience building attractive, full-featured, retina-ready, mobile-compatible websites in WordPress and other content management systems that you can easily edit and update yourself. No detail is overlooked, from security to SEO to integration with your other business workflows.

Branding and Marketing Support

We’ll bring our design experience to bear on logo development, print pieces, interactive kiosks, email campaigns, and more.

Maintenance & Updates

With any one of our hosting packages, you will receive 24/7 monitoring, nightly backups, proactive software updates, and the peace of mind that comes with enterprise-grade availability and a full suite of security infrastructure.

Whatever your technology or design needs, we can meet them.

Our work is informed by our sense of service, love and respect for craft, boundless creativity, along with equal parts pragmatism, optimism, and general all-around moxy. We enjoy a good challenge, and are frequently called upon to solve problems that others can’t. Our priorities are simplicity, trust, accessibility, and inclusion.

Commitment to our Community

As women and members of the diverse LGBTQIA+ community, we recognize our responsibility to help others, and we are pleased to share that over 25% of The Logical Alternative’s work is provided pro-bono to non-profit and community organizations. Every service we provide is offered to nonprofits at a discount.

Getting to Know You

Our philosophy of business is simple: we listen carefully to our clients to determine their exact needs, and then design and develop comprehensive solutions that exceed expectations, all with an eye to budget, growth, and usability. We never met a challenge we couldn’t rise to.

All Shapes and Sizes

We bring our skills and enthusiasm to work for clients of all sizes and shapes—from macro (Microsoft, Getty Images, NATO, and the National Park Service) to micro (sole proprietors, startups, community, and non-profit organizations). We love to do good, and we love to solve problems.

Helping You Help Others

We find our greatest satisfaction working with nonprofits, such as GLAAD, Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, National Coalition to End Gender-Based Violence, The GenderCool Project, National School Climate Center, National Trans Bar Association, Jefferson Land Trust, and countless others.

Featured Work

GLAAD website redesign

WeBSITE REDESIGN

GLAAD

When we got the chance to completely redesign and rebuild the socially critical GLAAD.org website, we jumped at it. The site hadn’t had a major redesign or technical update since 2011, so migrating it to a current platform was a challenge in itself. We also worked with GLAAD to create a completely fresh design approach more appropriate to their content and mission.

Custom Web Application: Community Resource Site

The Out & Equal Global Hub

The Out & Equal Global Hub is a “one-stop-shop” virtual education and engagement center for executives, D&I and HR practitioners, and ERG leaders working for LGBTQ workplace inclusion. By connecting change agents working inside their companies and organizations for LGBTQ equality, The Global Hub serves as a revolutionary resource helping companies learn from each other and share information and resources in a number of different ways.

The GenderCool Project

Website Development

The GenderCool Project

We met Jen Grosshandler, founder of The GenderCool Project, at the Gender Odyssey conference in 2017. At the time, she was in the early stages of planning a new kind of outreach and information campaign to help spread understanding about the lives of transgender children, and to celebrate who they are as extraordinary people.

Custom APP development

360Booth App

We’ve taken our 20 years of experience with the automotive industry and developed an app that provides photographers all the tools to take flawless pictures, decode VINs, and upload all of a vehicle’s photos and information to the dealer’s website easily.

Custom Development

Washington Immigration Solidarity Network

This critical organization came to us in need of a new Resource Finder solution, a membership site integrated with their back end solutions, and a new survey builder. It’s been our pleasure to work with closely them to develop full-featured solutions to support their clients, and we look forward to continuing to support their mission.

Who We Are

The Logical Alternative is a women-owned and operated boutique technology and design practice based in the beautiful Albuquerque area of New Mexico.

The company was co-founded in 1992 by wife-and-wife team Melissa, our design and marketing sorceress, and Evelyn, resident tech goddess.  In 2023, they invited customer success maven Nikki Neuen to join the business, and made the big move from Seattle to New Mexico—where they are loving the new friends, the food, and the beautiful views of the Sandias.

Erin Uritus
“We could not have done this without the initial support of JP Morgan Chase and the Force for Good team, Dell Technologies, and our partners at Logical Alternative. Thank you!”

Jen Grosshandler
“The power duo behind Logical Alternative, Melissa and Evie, are two of the most creative, deeply strategic and knowledgeable professionals I’ve ever worked with. They also happen to be two of the kindest humans on the planet. I truly can’t say enough positive things about their work and value. Our campaign has thrived, to a great extent, because of the solid foundation Evie and Melissa put in place. They are tremendous partners, and we are beyond grateful for their ongoing expertise and guidance.”

“Their work is top-notch, their pricing is clear and fair, and they are always looking for ways to make everything easier for our staff and cheaper for our bottom line. They take time and care with everything, while still being timely and speedy as appropriate. And as an LGBTQ-owned and operated shop that’s developed a number of trans and LGBTQ sites, they have a great eye for the specific needs of our communities:) Also, they are just really fun and kind colleagues.”
